“Roses I”
HERE'S THE STORY
"Roses 1" is a smaller sketch before doing the larger painting “Aunt Norma’s Roses”. I wanted to work out the colors and the values between the focal rose and anything in the background. Some painters don’t sell their sketches but when they are successful as a small painting, why not? Since I was primarily concerned with the flowers, a soft background was all I needed. To add interest, I put in the white baby’s breath flowers. The effect makes the flowers look like something a flower girl might carry at a wedding.
